HOLA - NAMASTE

Our Spanish connection began with the birth of the BIS-IBDP in 2011

On this cultural and educational journey, each student has an immersive experience of a local culture and language; living with a host family in a home away from home. Most students leave having cultivated deep friendships and lifelong bonds. Making deep personal connections with families from a very different culture is a first for many students and leaves them touched in an irrevocable way.

With each visit to CIT we meet people who go on to become friends and family.

Each year our students, teachers and parents  work hard to make this trip an enriching experience .

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL: A message from all our students

Muchisimas Gracias por siete dias increíbles. (Thank you for 7 incredible days)

A huge thank you to the teachers of both BIS and CIT for arranging  this exchange program for us that was both educative and fun.

The Nerja caves were truly a sight to behold, the old age home reminded us of our familial values, the workshops, and of course the Sierra Nevada snow was picturesque. Ademas, la comida española es para chuparse los dedos (Spanish food is finger licking good)

We would also like to thank each and every host family for the effort and time they have spent to ensure that our stay was comfortable and to make us feel at home.

Por ultimo, pero no menos importante, (last but not the least)  A massive thank you to our spanish brothers and sisters. We have made some very special memories and friendships that we we’ll cherish forever. Nos divertimos mucho.

Yo espero que la hermandad entre nuestros colegios siga fortaleciendo siempre. Os amamos mucho!! ( I hope that the brotherhood between our schools will continue to strengthen forever. We love you all)

Our hermanos from Colegio International de Torrequebrada (CIT) arrived in Mumbai midnight of  21 February, where they were welcomed in traditional Indian style with garlands.

Their schedules at BIS included sari and turban wearing workshops, a session on Warli Art, yoga and dance. They visited the colourful slums of SantaCruz, St Jude's Cancer Institute for small children, the Hare Krishna temple and the Gandhi museum at Mani Bhavan. And of course, all this was peppered with traditional Indian lunches and dinners, accompanied by mehendi and Bollywood song and dance.

After spending 4 days here, the malagueños left for Bangalore where they spent 3 days at the Foundation Vicente Ferrer.

The following month, the students of BIS travelled to Málaga where we were received by the Spanish families with an equally warm welcome.

Our excursions included a trip to Granada, to the Sierra Nevada to experience snow and to Nerja for the beautiful underground caves. We also went on a guided tour of Malaga city, a neighborhood transformed by Art on the building facades.

The students put together their joint project, which was a blog about their experiences and presented it in their auditorium to the rest of the school. To our delight, both sets of students spoke in Spanish!  It was a perfect way to end their week at CIT.
