CREATIVITY, ACTIVITY, SERVICE

The CAS programme for the year 2018-19 enabled all students to be engaged with Creativity and Service in equal measure.

A brief look at the Creativity/Activity sessions conducted this term:

  • Yoga with Anahita Sanjana

  • Football with Mr Yadav

  • Curiosity Gym

  • Gond Art, a folk art form where everything is sacred and intimately connected to nature, from Master Craftsmen Choti and Santosh Tekam.

  • 'Expressions through Calligraphy' was conducted by a Sophia Polytechnic faculty member where the students experimented with various materials like candy sticks, sponges, shaving brushes, toothbrushes.

  • An exposure to New Media was given by students learning how to do coding of 3D designs to make a sinusoidal shaped building and the making a phone musical speaker and a musical flute.

  • Making dream catchers

  • Making Terraniums

  • Self defence workshop conducted by Mr Anurag Toshniwal

  • Dance workshop conducted by Lilian

  • A visit to the Bhau Daji Lad Museum to attend a workshop based on the ongoing exhibition of Mr Sarnath Banerjee’Spectral times’.They expressed stories through illustrations and write ups based on art objects.

The service component of CAS  was specifically meaningful for the students as it gave them an opportunity to engage with our partner NGOs and gave them a new perspective to what interactions with children from different backgrounds means.

Through the year, the students of BIS interacted with the students of Jai Vakeel and Seva Sadan, planning numerous activities for them.

  • Visit to Bank

  • Visit to Nehru Science Centre

  • Funfair

  • Workshop on cookery

  • Dance and music workshop

  • Sports

  • Technology workshop

Another remarkable activity was the Foot and Mouth workshop, where a differently abled artist painted a canvas with their foot. Our students attempted to perform the same activity and realized how challenging it was.

Our students also lived the life of an auxillary staff by assisting them in cleaning classrooms and their daily chores. It was a good way to sensitise our students and get them closer to people who are involved in their everyday lives.
